Discernment

I’ve grown sick of hearing the names of Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, and all the rest of their ilk, being touted as great conservative heroes of today… a few daily doses of Lew Rockwell, and you’ll pretty quickly start to recognize a bloodthirsty, Fascist, Neo-Conservative the next time you see or hear one, as they try to ride on the coattails of the Tea Parties, and try to whip up the so-called “Conservative Movement.” Here’s an easy rundown list for identifying a Neo-Conservative — A Neo-Conservative only differs from true liberals insofar as he is on the right side of the left instead of being on the left, according to Bret.

What is also distressing is the love affair most evangelical Christians have with the U.S. Military. Not that the concept of armed forces is wrong, but the “my country, right or wrong” attitude towards the U.S. Military is disturbingly common among evanglicals.

I agree with you; I think that began way back with the War Between the States, when the decline of Calvinism, and the rise of weak, Dispensational theology, and Universalism in the church promoted the view that the state is in a vertical relationship over the church, and that even submission to God must be superseded by submission the the almighty state; so it’s natural now that patriotism is next to godliness. Deadly stuff, huh?
