Yep, even this was taken on my macro lens this week…

Green Eyes
Saturday, July 17th, 2010In the Details
Wednesday, July 14th, 2010I’m committed this week to only taking pictures with my macro lens… there are myriads of details, colors, and textures to be found around me right now — from things I’m creating for a very special even in October,
to just general life around our always busy house.

Life never ceases to be wonderful in all its craziness and overwhelmingness… as a G.K. Chesteron quote says that I recently read on a friend’s blog: The world will never starve for want of wonders, but for want of wonder. We so easily forget the wonder of God’s creation, and the wonder that He sovereignly ordains every moment of our lives, when we throw daily thanksgiving by the wayside for everything He gives and does for us. It’s easier every morning to wake and become weighed down by our ungratefulness and selfishness, than it is to pause in our distractions and see just how many blessings are bound up in the things we can reach out and touch immediately. And sometimes it just takes seeing it through a macro lens to remember that.

Guess I’m lucky to be going to a whole conference about them in a few days!

Levi and Alyssa – Married!
Monday, June 21st, 2010It was a joy and privilege to help photograph the wedding of Levi and Alyssa because of their desire to glorify and honor God in all things, especially in their new marriage. May God bless them in their commitment to Him and to each other!

Every Common Bush
Friday, May 14th, 2010
And truly, I reiterate, . . nothing’s small!
No lily-muffled hum of a summer-bee,
But finds some coupling with the spinning stars;
No pebble at your foot, but proves a sphere;
No chaffinch, but implies the cherubim:
And,–glancing on my own thin, veined wrist,–
In such a little tremour of the blood
The whole strong clamour of a vehement soul
Doth utter itself distinct. Earth’s crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God:
But only he who sees, takes off his shoes,
The rest sit round it, and pluck blackberries,
And daub their natural faces unaware
More and more, from the first similitud

Temporary Spring
Friday, March 26th, 2010Yeah, we’re officially in spring now, don’t you know? It happened almost a week ago last Saturday — and we’re basking in it here in California… literally. I’ll walk out on the deck and find bodies sprawled everywhere like lizards, hogging all the best, warm, buttery, sunshine spots. As I kick them out of my spot on the chair, I remind them that it’s age before beauty, my dears.
Don’t believe me that it’s really spring here? Here’s some proof. But we’re not getting too wrapped up in delighting in the sweet smelling flowers, fresh breezes, and white, fluffy clouds, cause next week we’re headed back into a ferocious storm, and perhaps even snow. Oh well, I shan’t compare thee to a summer’s day — just yet.

Orc Faces and All
Monday, March 15th, 2010Quite frankly, this picture scares me…

I’ve photographed my brothers and sisters many times, and I’ve found that it’s always the boys that make the goofy, scary, comical faces — my sisters will stand there, looking pretty and posing, turning this way and that, smiling all the while for the camera. But, if I point my camera at a little brother, they either cover their heads, make orc faces, close their eyes, or stick their tongues out and start panting like a dog. Cute.

But, I have to admit, looking back at my photos, the pictures of the boys tend to have more character than those where I tell my sisters just to stand still and pose. I think my brothers have grown my approach towards photography for the better. Orc faces and all.

Bloomin’
Saturday, February 6th, 2010Spring is on its way. Sort of. We’re still in the tight grasp of winter storms… but this is proof that they won’t last perpetually!

Yeah, I know, I’m a girl… I take pictures of the pretty flowers. Want to make something of it?
